The vast majority of firearms certificate holders are law abiding citizens, yet it’s obviously important for Police Forces to know when a nominal has access to firearms. Corvus Firearms imports data offered daily from the National Firearms Licensing Management System (NFLMS) into Corvus. The firearms certificate information results in a warning marker on nominal and address records. This gives officers awareness whenever they lookup a certificate holder, or their address, through the Single Enterprise View (SEV). The certificate information is shown on mobile and desktop solutions alike, with Corvus Mobile in particular giving frontline officers additional safety.

Corvus Firearms also updates the Force RMS (e.g. Niche) with the firearms certificate data – again updating nominal and address records. The Nominal is looked-up using their PNC ID. Certificate from/to dates, the telephone number of the holder, and changes to certificate status are also handled. Warnings on the Nominal record show as ‘Firearm/Shotgun holder’ or ‘Firearms certificate revoked’ if the certificate has been revoked – providing additional safety. And if a firearms certificate holder is involved in an event such as a Stop Search or Crime; is the subject of an Intelligence Report; or is arrested, then a notification is published.
