Bluestar Software will present a project overview of the research work that is currently being undertaking with Bournemouth University. This work initially focuses on the use of crime scene and custody images within the world of footwear, but ultimately has wider applicability in the criminal justice sector. The research project focuses on the use of machine learning techniques to help provide automated decisions to either non expert users or to speed up process for expert users by performing some actions. There are lots of areas of interest as this research could be turned to predictive models to help provide insights into the future using the data the police already have. One core part of machine learning is the requirement of lots of data to use for training and validation purposes, we have asked in the past if anyone is able to offer us custody scans of footwear or crime scene images of footwear (all anonymised, optionally coded against the NFRC). We will also explain how this data is used, what we will do with it and where we will keep it. At the end of the presentation you will have the opportunity to ask questions. The presentation will be brief (around 20 minutes) and we will allocate 40 minutes to ask questions. The presentation will be held on Thursday 10th October at 11:00 via skype, you will be able to join via skype for business or via the web, we will email a link to everyone who wishes to attend in the morning before the presentation. Due to the numbers expected we will mute the meeting so you can only hear the presenter, however if you have any questions please email them to firstname.lastname@example.org and we will answer them at the end of the presentation. If you wish take part, and watch the presentation please confirm your attendance by emailing email@example.com we will then email you a link on the day to join us.
